The Story Behind Morea
The Morea washing method was pioneered by the Pebble team to highlight the signature citrus and honey characteristics of Sidama coffee. The name "Morea" is derived from Ethiopian terms:
Nora: Lemon/Lime
Mare: Honey
Morea: Lemon honey
This special washing process preserves the vibrant and refreshing qualities of the coffee while enhancing its delicate floral and citrus notes.
Why the Sidama Region?
The Sidama region is known as the heart of Ethiopian specialty coffee, with a rich history of producing some of the world's finest beans. Hidama, a highly regarded micro-region within Sidama, has gained international recognition through three consecutive years of Cup of Excellence (COE) accolades. Due to increasing demand, coffee from this area has seen a steady rise in value, making it one of Ethiopia's most sought-after coffee-producing zones.
